I am a Mexican-born, London-based interdisciplinary artist. A cabinet of curiosities would be a suitable analogy to describe my practice. It is a space of multiple compartments in which texts, images, and objects conflate unexpectedly, creating a series of works with its visual vocabulary. Every project develops and originates its questions in its own time. I seek understanding through painting, printmaking, handmade objects, writing, poetry and research.
My practice is informed by global history, a narrative that seeks connections and exchanges across political and cultural boundaries. I am particularly interested in the encounter between European and American societies during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries and the impact of the first globalisation in the arts and material culture.
My work presents a unified vision in which different times and realms coexist. Permeable spaces, styles, and mediums play and inhabit the workspace and the creative process.
